Some Of The Greatest Plant-Based Product Finds At Natural Products Expo West
So, by Sunday of last weekend I vowed to never eat chocolate ever again in my life. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I was SO sick of it. I tried just about every vegan chocolate product in every area of the Natural Products Expo and I was ready to puke.
However, that sentiment lasted all of 36 hours and I’ve found my love for that brown bit ‘o goodness once again (as you’ll see from some of my top picks below).
So, on to the incredible, new plant-based products:
Hands down, the most exciting new vegan products I sampled at Expo West were No Evil – a line of plant-based meat replacement products that are AAAAHHHMAZING! I tried all of their vegan meats and was equally impressed with each one. They offer plant-based sausage, plant-based chorizo, plant-based “chicken” slices, and a plant-based pulled “pork.” I was doing the yummy food dance in the aisle 😉
My next favorite (which I was just as excited about, but it’s not a new company) is Miyoko’s new line of vegan cheese spreads. OMG! I tried several options and all I can say is WOW! All of her products are and were awesome, but her new plant-based cheddar spread is the stuff that dreams are made of. It tastes so much like the real thing it’s crazy. Unfortunately, these new items won’t be in stores until this summer. However, I’m working on their marketing director, to see if I can get them to share these cheesy delights at Your Plant-Based Guide Conference in May.
Hemp 2O is another product that I really enjoyed. I tasted a few flavors of their hemp water and they were delicious – refreshing and not too sweet, but they’ll definitely take care of any sugar craving you might have.
Loving Earth is a company that makes “mouthgasmic” (Their word, not mine. But, I quite agree and I had a bit of an “episode” at their booth. Hopefully, there’s no video evidence.) raw, organic, vegan chocolate. Flavors include dark, cheesecake, creamy, turkish delight, berry crunch hazelnut, salted caramel, raspberry (my fav), and mint. What makes this plant-based chocolate so unique is the fact that it’s sweetened with only coconut sugar only or agave nectar. It is also so the most creamy vegan chocolate I’ve ever had, which may be due to their use of raw cashews in some of the flavors.
Another great, new product is Om Organic Mushroom Nutrition. This company makes a wide range of organic mushroom powders that can be used in a multitude of ways, to incorporate the monumental health benefits of mushrooms into your diet.
Biena is a company that makes chick pea (garbanzo bean) snacks and, while that may not sound appealing, let me assure you that they’re yummy. I especially like their BBQ flavor, and their dark chocolate covered chickpeas were great too (there’s that chocolate again). Although, not all of their products are vegan, the majority are, and they provide five to six grams of plant protein per serving.
I was super excited to find Partake Foods – a female owned company that makes delicious, plant-based cookies with whole food, secret ingredients that prevent and reverse disease, such as sprouted ancient grains, pumpkin, carrots, and sweet potatoes. These delectable little bites are also gluten-free for those suffering from a gluten intolerance or celiac disease.
